Who were the Visogoths?

The Visigoths were one of the most important Germanic tribes. They arrived in Hispania in the 5th century. The Visigoths adopts the Roman's life style (culture, religion, clothes). In 507 AD they established a new kingdom.  The capital was Toledo, this is THE KINGDOM OF TOLEDO.

In this moment the Roman Hispania ends.

Goverment: the king makes the laws. He has special meetings with nobles and bishops (COUNCIL OF TOLEDO).                          
               King Recaredo

Religion: King Recaredo converts to Catholicism. It means the unification of Religions in Visigothic Kingdom.
 

Culture: Visigoths learn Latin and adopt Roman laws. There is an important bishop and visigothic thinker, SAINT ISIDORO OF SEVILLA He writes the first encyclopedia.
